GymA M King, an Integrated Design-Build firm with an established presence in the Upstate, recently completed a new 11,505-square-foot Life Center for the historic Old Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church in Simpsonville, South Carolina.

The Life Center’s gymnasium, which features hardwood maple flooring and six automatic fold-up basketball goals, is ideal for hosting basketball and volleyball events. The gymnasium includes an equipment room, restrooms, score board, and surrounding bleachers with seating capacity for 122 spectators. The Life Center also includes private and group office space, daycare facilities and a fully operational kitchen.

“While this project falls well outside of A M King’s industrial and manufacturing market focus, we were happy to take on this special assignment when Old Pilgrim Missionary Baptist approached us,” said Andre Harris, A M King’s Greenville business unit leader, and member of the church. “Old Pilgrim’s building committee wanted a Design-Build company they could count on; and because A M King has a stellar reputation for following through on our promises, they had full confidence that our local team would deliver their project on budget, on time, and with the utmost integrity.”

Since its inception 150 years ago, Old Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church has been led by many distinguished pastors and grown into a large and faithful community of more than 500 members.
