For more than a decade, Carolinas-based A M King, an integrated design-build firm with an established presence in the Upstate, has designated funds during the holiday season for each of its employees to sponsor a child from the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program. This year the firm’s generosity ensured that a total of 136 children in the Greenville and Charlotte communities will receive Christmas toys and winter clothing.
A M King employees in the Greenville office, like their Charlotte colleagues, shopped for their Angels shortly before Thanksgiving. Despite the challenges of remote work schedules and pandemic-related restrictions for gathering, they effectively coordinated gift package assembly for each individual Angel, then loaded clothes, toys and scooters onto an A M King truck for delivery to The Salvation Army of Greenville.
“A M King is proud to be part of such a meaningful program year after year, assisting with the collective effort to help families who are struggling,” said A M King’s Andre Harris, Greenville Business Unit Leader. “We are blessed to be able to play a small role in making wishes come true for kids who might otherwise not receive anything for Christmas.”
Harris noted that this annual community service effort also presents a great opportunity for newer hires to learn more about A M King’s culture and find out why the company is so committed to community engagement.
Every year, The Salvation Army of Greenville provides Christmas gifts to more than 1,500 children through the Angel Tree program. The Salvation Army serves over 2,500 children in the tri-county area (Greenville, Pickens and Oconee Counties).
