Stephen GreenCOLUMBIA, SC (May 25, 2021) – DESA, Inc. is pleased to announce that veteran engineer, Stephen Green, P.E., has joined its Engineering Services team as Project Engineer.

Green will be responsible for the management and design of transportation projects, water and sewer infrastructure, and site layouts.

“We are excited to have Stephen join the DESA team. His long and varied career brings the best of engineering, project management, leadership to the forefront,” says Diane Sumpter, President and CEO of DESA.

Prior to DESA, Green held many lead engineering positions, including principal tooling engineer at Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel in Columbia. During his Westinghouse tenure, Green was the three-time recipient of the coveted George Westinghouse Award, which recognizes eminent achievement or distinguished service in mechanical engineering. Outside of engineering, Green successfully owned and operated two local restaurants.

“I am impressed with this aspect of Stephen’s career,” Sumpter continues. “This gives him the unique perspective of business ownership, which is beneficial when leading a professional team.”

A native of Columbia, Green graduated from University of South Carolina, with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He later earned his MBA in Management Science and Production Operations from the university.
