An Arkansas engineering company is expanding its footprint east, opening what the firm calls a Water Design Center in Greenville.

Garver said in a news release the company’s fourth Water Design Center eventually will employ about 100.

The firm’s Water Design Centers were created to bring together the disciplines necessary to design solutions for water and wastewater treatment facilities and related infrastructure, according to the news release. Employees include engineers, scientists, designers and technicians.

The Greenville center is intended to serve clients in the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida and Alabama, the release said. It will be the company’s fourth center, complementing the others in Fayetteville, Ark., and Harlingen and College Station, Texas.

“Having the most experienced professionals, with discipline-specific expertise, working under one roof allows us to provide the most efficient service to our clients and is a key advantage of our WDCs,” Water Design Centers Director John Cutright of Garver said in the release.

Chris Gatling, an engineer serving as the civil team leader in Garver’s Fayetteville center, has been promoted and tasked with leading the new Greenville location.

“Our in-person collaboration and small teams approach means we’re able to offer the unique expertise and creativity necessary for each project,” Gatling said in the release. “And it means that we offer more mentoring and leadership opportunities to team members, making our operation nimble and more effective overall, which ends up benefiting the client.”

The office will open with a few dozen team members comprised of internal transfers and strategic new hires, the release said.

In addition, Garver’s Harry Elliott will be based in Greenville while serving as structural group lead as well as operations leader for all WDCs, managing assignments and utilization and tracking project progress and deliverables.

“We’ve proven that this method works in providing the most efficient designs to our communities,” Elliott said. “I’m excited to work with Chris and the rest of the team to help ensure a successful launch of our latest WDC.”

The release said Garver Water Design Centers work with local universities and technical colleges in their other locations and will do so in Greenville.

Garver, founded in 1919, is an employee-owned firm with more than 1,000 employees.
